Ying Yue

Ying Yue (映月) is a reimagining of the moon goddess inspired by the Chinese goddess Chang-e. Ying Yue is an ancient and immortal goddess, she controls and embodies the moon. She turns the tides and casts her reflection of light onto the world. She is graceful, tranquil, and serene. But that beauty and peace can quickly turn to chaos and rage, especially when those she loves are threatened, namely Rasun. Ying Yue has held a long and unrequited flame for the sun God Rasun, who she has nicknamed "Sunny". However the two are often separated through the world they live to serve. Ying Yue does not understand or particularly care for humans. She finds them careless and confusing. Their relationship with death has always mystified the immortal goddess who cannot imagine an end to her life. She sees the humans as a merely part of her role, but she rarely likes interacting with the simple and violent race. Rather she likes to spend her time in her incorporeal form of moonlight, cold and aloof, traveling through space and moving the tides to and fro.
