Overthought Designs Logo

Program : Procreate

Trying to come up with a name and logo that could encompass my work and I, was no easy task. I mulled over different variations and tried out different styles, none of which felt right. I realized that I was overthinking it, and soon after I realized that had to be my name.

I loved the pink and dark rich blue color scheme and one quick sketch of a blue grid with pink writing, and many iterations later led to my final "Overthought Designs Logo".

I knew I wanted it to look both like a structured and messy blueprint, and rather than put random scribbles and numbers to give the illusion of something being planned and developed on a page, I decided to incorporate my actual plans, sketches, and notes on how my logo should look within the logo itself. Thus the many scribbles, words, arrows, and notes are all illustrations of my actual thought process.

I also knew I wanted to incorporate a texture of some kind and decided to use crumpled and bent paper as an overlay.

I created the typography of both the words "overthought" and "designs" with the words and their connotations in mind. "Overthought" was created in more of a messy handwritten manner, while "designs" was created to be a more stable, strong, and dominant form of typography. The choice to incorporate the logo within a circle was also intended to contrast with the geometric typography of "designs" and the geometric grid background.

True to its name, much thought went into my design.
