This illustration was first inspired by an interesting pose I had created while experimenting with a drawing model. I thought the pose seemed as if something was being shot through the model, like a beam of light.
As I began to draw the character however I realised I did not want her to be a victim, this was not something happening to her, rather it was from her.
The red world around her contrasts the blue light within her. Her wooden skin illustrates the hard exterior she has been carved to be.
However when she allows it, the light within her is who she really is.
